How We Started

It’s a funny story, actually.

Initially, this was stated as a project with an old friend of the family, but we couldn’t agree on the direction we should go in as many businesses go.

In going our separate ways, we found something perfect for both of us.

For me, it was a bit of a whirlwind because I’m usually more of a behind-the-scenes person. I have always loved crafting and designing but never had enough confidence to sell my products.

When covid hit, I was working for closed down several stores in California, including my own. For the second time in two years, I was unexpectedly home for an extended period of time.

Although a large portion of my time is used for maintaining my household and three children at home, I always loved work, so I started a business development company.

Rude Optics has always been a dream of mine. I love optics, glasses, and most of all, being kind and having dignity in everything you do. This company was an outlet for me to take all my marketing and management skills to people struggling with launching their ideas.

Sometimes people need a sounding board to work through what they think they want and what they actually want.

After nearly a year of weekly meetings and no-cost consulting, it was nice to have my own shop to work on suddenly.

I’m still terrified that no one will like it, but at this point, I’m so far in it I don’t think it really matters anymore because I’m doing this for myself, my family, and all the dreamers out there that struggle with confidence.

Since I have so many amazingly talented friends and family, I have opened up this shop to a handful to give them a platform to grow without intimidating web development tech skills.

The number one positive that came out of the pandemic for me is the sudden realization that I LOVE programming, web development, and e-commerce rebuilding.

I would never have had the time to tinker around and find that out had I not been stuck inside with nothing better to do.

So here I am, at the beginning of my journey. I hope you enjoy the amazing products that will come from this creative space, and I hope that we bring just a little more joy into your life.

You are the best part of my day; let us be the best part of yours.

With all my love and a heart on my sleeve,
